Interactive Systems Connected

With the success of their two entertainment ventures in New York City and Las Vegas, the owners of Brooklyn Bowl Nashville wanted to create a similar experience in Music City – one venue with multiple attractions including 19 lanes of bowling on two floors, food and drink, and live music.

The Challenge

The 48,000 square-foot, 1,200 capacity facility had to have multiple entertainment zones in limited usable space, seamlessly connected state-of-the-art electrical and technology systems that allowed visitors to access interactive services, and the highest quality sound, video recording, and reproduction capabilities.

Aptitude, an industry leader in commercial building integration, worked closely with the owners and architect team to establish must-have design features and key end-goals. The team conducted site visits to existing Brooklyn Bowl venues to zero in on design elements and finish quality expectations for the Nashville venue.

Aptitude also implemented cloud-based construction technologies to manage all project details including site plans, inventory lists, even photos, and handwritten notes. This created an effective real-time reporting tool and ensured no information was lost while keeping everyone associated with the building in the know. Aptitude also used that information to provide design-build services on the low voltage and security scopes of work.

“Aptitude offers something unique as a technology business that understands this type of building design work—they really get the big picture. They understand subcontractors and know who the right people are, and they thought of things that I wouldn’t have. They really added genuine, tangible value. Sign me up for more.”

Collaborative Approach

Working directly with the Brooklyn Bowl production teams to ensure adherence to branding and space utilization, Aptitude’s creative and collaborative work produced an unparalleled cable and network architecture for the venue to manage its sophisticated high-performance audio/visual system.

The best part? Aptitude completed the integration at half the cost of the prior Brooklyn Bowl locations. With resourceful planning and design processes, the company’s redesign and installation of overhead speaker systems resulted in savings of more than $60,000 for the client.

The Results

The building’s master system was integrated to provide a plethora of customizable audio and visual experiences. Individual rooms, from the private event space to production and green rooms with modern hi-fi sound and video components. At the touch of a button, venue performers and guests could access the highest quality video and audio of their choosing, including feeds from other zones in the building. Even better, all areas of the building—multiple bars, bowling lanes, and the concert space—could playback the same audio and video at once.

This was a game-changing element of Brooklyn Bowl when live performances were put on hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Restaurant and bowling alley patrons became “virtual crowds” during streamed performances of what would have been live events. Aptitude also worked with Brooklyn Bowl’s preferred vendors for the crucial integration of the venue’s security network.

Through clear communication, diligent problem solving, powerful technology, and innovative design and install methods, the Aptitude team delivered a fully connected built environment for Brooklyn Bowl Nashville, a venue that has enhanced the vibrancy of the thriving arts and entertainment district of Music City.
